You know, that moment where you feel like you’re in a movie and you’re just waiting for that song to start in the background. Our lives are framed by music- by memories and the sounds that go along with them. Would a father’s first dance with his newly wed daughter seem nearly as special if it were silent? Would you feel as inspired by Rocky’s story if he ran up the Art Museum steps without a sound? There is music within every second of our lives, whether it’s what we’re actually hearing, what’s going on in our heads, or what we wish was playing at the time.
My songs are the products of pieces of my life that lacked music at the time. So first I lived it and then I created the score. Now the next time I’m living it, I’ll remember exactly how it felt. Every note has a purpose and every instrument has a goal. When it’s all put together, you walk away knowing exactly what the moment must have been like.
These are some of the songs I’ve written to help explain the places my life has been and the feelings that others have conveyed to me. Whether it’s a film, a game, or a scattered jumble of thoughts, there’s a way to turn the feelings into sound. Take a listen, maybe you’ve been there before.
Hailing from the quiet Pocono Mountains, Chris Gordon entered the Philadelphia music scene at the young age of 18. With five years of musical background under his belt, he admittedly had a lot to learn but dove humbly into the challenge that lay ahead.
Gordon worked as a guitar instructor both from home and at the town’s local YMCA, honing his own craft as he started from scratch with each student. Chris began to focus his musical efforts with an eye particularly toward composition for both films and video games. However, expressing inner emotions has always been a large part of Chris’ love for music and so he began a solo music project.
Under the title The Summer Circuit, Gordon writes, records, and produces songs packed with infectious rhythms and optimistic undertones all in his makeshift dorm room studio. To date, the young talent has produced three full-length albums and two EPs with sales mounting nearly 4,200 individual downloads and 800 physical CDs.
Brimming with the fresh talent and ideas this city is known for, Gordon continues to take on as many projects as possible. Yet among his accolades as singer, guitarist, songwriter, composer, and producer, the most shocking may be his most obvious title – just a kid.
